A 2003 Gallup Management Journal survey on employee engagement found that:
These figures suggest that 50 % - 70 % of the workforce in most companies are not engaged or are actively disengaged. They come to work "switched off", or may even be actively working against your company. "If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got"
